Postal Art For All
Current envelope count: 317
In March of 2020, I posted an open invitation online for anyone to send me their mailing address in exchange for a complimentary piece of mail art. My goal was to lift spirits during the early days of the Covid-19 crisis. Between 2020 and 2022, I sent 315 envelopes across the globe before taking a much-needed break.
Now, Iām bringing the project back, this time to spread a little light during a moment of converging global conflicts and crises. Participants are welcome to submit the address of a friend in need instead of their own. My aims are simple: I wish to spread joy, forge connections, and make art accessible. Mail is the perfect vehicle for my project because it is a small gesture with a big impact. There is nothing more delightful than receiving a lovingly-crafted letter in the post.
Postal Art For All is made possible by stamp donations from friends, and grants awarded in 2020 by the Awesome Foundation and the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
To participate, please email your mailing address to postalartforall@gmail.com.
